I have been an eye specialist for over 20 years with special interest in retina. I am a full time practicing NHS consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital, which is one of the oldest and largest stand-alone eye hospitals in the world. I am passionate about what I do and look after my patients who inspire me to diagnose and find cure for their retinal problem.
My main areas of interest are providing the latest evidence based treatment for Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Retinal Vein Occlusion. I also provide opinion on inherited eye diseases, Cataract Surgery in patients with co-existing retinal problem and Uveitis.
Moorfields is one of the world's leading eye hospitals, providing expertise in clinical care, research and teaching and education. Main focus is the treatment and care of patients with a wide range of eye problems, from common complaints to rare conditions, which require treatments not available anywhere else in the UK. Moorfield is also a postgraduate teaching centre and a national centre for ophthalmic research involving, with the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, the largest ophthalmic research programme in the world.
I began my training in 1992, when I did my residency in Ophthalmology from GNEC, a premier tertiary referral institute in Delhi, India. I am on the GMC specialist register and have done CCT in ophthalmology from Yorkshirecs. My research interest in retinal disease stems from the basic laboratory work I did as a prestigious Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow from Leeds University in genetics of rare retinal diseases. Thereafter I furthered my training as a Clinical Fellow in Medical Retina from Moorfields Eye Hospital.
